Twitter places

Our mashup Location from Twitter has been updated. Lets you get location info form any geo-coded twit, create QR code for mobile map with this location and copy that map right to your phone. So you can simply save this location (map) in your mobile bookmarks. Alternatively you can publish it on your site/blog.

For using this mashup just provide an URL for any geo-coded twit or use a bookmarklet. In case of bookmarklet usage just open a twit and select Location from Twitter bookmarklet from your bookmarks.

YouTube QR code

An useful QR code bookmarklet. Lets you obtain QR code for the mobile version of opened YouTube video (it will create a QR code image with the URL of the mobile YouTube page for the video you are viewing).
If you are using Internet Explorer, just right click on the link, and select Add to Favorites and save it to the Links folder. If you are using Firefox, right click the link and select Bookmark This Link and save it to the Bookmark Toolbar Folder.

How does it work? Open any YouTube page. E.g. Magic tricks. With the opened page select YouTube QR code bookmarklet. And you will get a QR code for the mobile version. So as soon as you scan it the mobile URL will be right on your mobile. It could be a good traffic generation tools for the mobile operators - now it is very easy to transfer YouTube video to mobile.

From web to mobile

Let us present one tool lets you copy data right from the web pages to your mobile. It is about transferring web content to the phone. E.g. you are going to copy address info, scheduling, driving directions, prices in the shop etc. published on some page to your mobile phone. How to do that?

In general the idea is very simple. As soon as some text for saving is selected we can create on the fly a mobile page with this text. And that mobile page could be transferred right to the phone via QR code. So right on our phone we will get a mobile web page with the text selected from the web. Now we can bookmark that mobile page in our mobile browser and use it any time we need that info

Let us show it on the practice. We will use QR code maker mashup for creating a mobile page:

1. Just select any text fragment on this page

2. Click on the link below:

3. Your selected text will be passed to QR code maker mashup and just in one click you will be able to create a mobile page as well as an appropriate QR code.

4. And for the future usage you can save the link above in the bookmarks (actually, this link is a bookmarklet). So this web to mobile service will be available for any opened web page.

Places from tweets

Yet another our mashup has been updated - Location from Twitter.

Usually, the bundle Twitter + Maps always means mapping twits and show them on the map. Yes, we have such mashups too (see for example, Photo map или Local twitter). But here everything is vice versa. It is just a reverse task.

Suppose you are reading a great geo-located twit. Just a status associated with some place (location). In Twitter's web client you can see that place and an appropriate icon just below the message. How to get that place info and save/bookmark it on your phone? It is what our mashup - Places from Twitter is for.

It is very similar to our Location bookmark, but with Twitter status instead of address. Mashup Locations from Twitter also creates QR code for mobile map. And mobile map describes a place from Twitter. And here we are using Geo Messages again.

The usage is simple. Just open in Twitter’s web interface any geo-enabled twit and copy its URL to mashup’s form. Also you can save the following link Place from Twitter in your bookmarks and simply select that bookmark on any opened page with geo-enabled twit (it is so called bookmarklet).

And of course, any QR code created with this mashup could be placed anywhere – on your site/blog, Facebook wall etc. You can even print it and place on the physical wall. Mashup provides HTML code you need for embedding QR code image.

Social search

A new version for Twitter info mashup is ready. Lets you combine Google Social API and Twitter API. Just type a name for any twitter account (e.g. your follower or twitter you are following to) and get a list of URL’s associated with this account. You could be surprised sometimes.

Mobile sites creator

We wrote recently about QR codes for YouTube. It is a bookmarklet, lets you copy YouTube mobile page right to your phone. Now let us see a more generic solution - how to automatically create a mobile video site. Our new mashup YouTube mobile video lets you collect a bundle of interesting video pages and automatically create a mobile (XHTML, WAP 2.0) site for them. Could be a good source of the mobile traffic for the telecom operators as well a usefull add-on for the mobile sites developers (designers). For example, just create without any programming a link for the video data your visitors could be interested in and use this link on the own mobile portal (site).

The usage is very easy. On the mashup's page (no need for the registration) just set a link for YouTube page. Than edit the title for this page and add it to the site. Mashup automatically detects a relevant mobile data and returns you a link to the mobile site. You can share this link with email, Twitter, Facebook or even copy it right to your own mobile via QR-code. And it is exactly the same link you can reuse across your own mobile sites.

Technically it is an YouTube API and several of custom tags from Coldtags suite. For example - YouTube mashup taglib.

Our mashup Dialogues in Twitter has been updated. It lets you restore the chain of tweets related to the given status (message). The use cases are obvious. You are reading some tweet with the question and also interested in the answers. Or, vice versa, you are reading some answer and need to restore the dialog from the beginning.

For the beginning just set a full URL for the tweet (or simply set status ID). For statuses published as reply to another tweet, mashup will restore the dialogue. Also mashup will lookup reactions to the given tweet. In other words it will try to restore the dialogue in the both directions.

You are reading some tweet with the question and also interested in the answers. Or, vice versa, you are reading some answer and need to restore the dialog from the beginning.
