This paper describes a new model for check-in process: customized (or business-oriented) check-ins. This approach introduces a new mobile service that lets any business publish customized records (statuses) in social networks (Facebook in the current release) in exchange for some benefits (discounts, gifts, coupons) provided for the customers.
For the business, this service introduces a new way for advertising in the social networks. For the consumers, this service introduces a way for exchanging access to the own social graph for some benefits (e.g., gifts, discounts, coupons).

I think that offering an incentive for this as you have mentioned is critical. People don't do stuff to help out a business unless it benefits them directly. Yes, there are a number of companies listed at BuyFacebookFansReviews that can help businesses get more traction on Facebook, but the best way to get more fans that benefit you is to get people through some sort of coupon or deal that benefits everybody. I think that a lot of companies should realize that building up a solid network of fans takes time and using a variety of sources to build up your fanbase is the best thing you can do.
>get people through some sort of >coupon or deal that benefits >everybody
absolutely. Direct actions is the only way it will work
