Chrome installer error

Two laptops - the same deal. Could not install Chrome for Windows XP due to error 0x80040890. Google search shows two things:

a) we are not alone
b) there is no reaction from Google

Bad use case, Google. Will stay with Firefox

Just this year we switch on to Google chrome. It's the best browser so far.
